Quick-View of Two Cities Church
The Gospel is our message, motivation, and method.
The Gospel is the good news that we can enjoy a relationship with God through the sinless life, vicarious death and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. We don’t enjoy this relationship because of what we do but because of what Jesus has done.
The Gospel is not the ABCs of Christianity but the A to Z. This message changes us from the inside out first transforming our hearts, then our behavior. The gospel is the window through which we see Winston.
Love God: Gospel-saturated worship
Everybody worships something or someone. Whatever we prize most highly or sacrifice most deeply for is what we worship. Romans chapter 1 says that man’s problem is that he worships the creation and not the Creator.
At Two Cities Church, we worship the Triune God of the Bible and we want others to know and worship Him. Our worship is filled with both the gravity and gladness that come from understanding the Gospel. The gravity of realizing how sinful we are, but the gladness in the sacrificial work of Christ on the cross.
Our worship gatherings will be unashamedly saturated in the gospel for God’s Glory, the growth of the church, and salvation of non-Christians.
Love Each Other: Gospel-saturated community
Community is a buzzword. We are made in God’s image and therefore made for community. God said in Genesis chapter 2 that it is not good for man to be alone.
The Gospel doesn’t just “save me” but “creates we”. In other words the Gospel creates a new community that bind themselves to one another, encouraging one another in their identity in Christ and spurring one another to love and good deeds (1 Peter 2.9-10; Hebrews 10.19-25; Acts 2.42-47).
Two Cities Church will gather together weekly to worship God publicly where we will preach and respond to the gospel in a way that is accessible to believers and unbelievers alike (1 Corinthians 14.24-25). We will live with gospel intentionally together in smaller groups throughout the week. As believers we will covenant together as members to practice church life under the authority of Christ and leadership of our elders.
Love The World: Gospel-saturated mission
We believe that the Gospel comes to us, works in us and moves through us. So we are always looking for ways to declare and demonstrate the gospel.
So we gather together for gospel- saturated worship and community, but we will also scatter throughout the week for gospel-saturated mission. We will do this through the normal common grace rhythms of life. Including eating, working, playing and celebrating with those in our city and neighborhood.
Our desire is to reach our children, community, college campuses and city! We are in the Winston for the sake of the World. Which means we love our city and want to reach it and the world. At Two Cities Church we are committed to both local and global missions.
